they all took some pretty hard falls, but came a long way during the hour.

they had a lot of fun; and me, maddee, candice, and addie had a lot of fun watching.

colton is already begging to go back.. and next time i think i'll join him!

a little bit of love in our home

over the weekend i made a little heart garland to add some love into our home for valentines day. i used this tutorial-- but ended up using red and white card stock instead of the paint swatches. it was so easy, and i think it looks pretty cute strung across the cork board in our kitchen.

valentines day is going to be sooo good this year.. i can hardly wait!!

Kirk and Lindsey's Wedding

On Wednesday afternoon we attended the sealing of one of Colton's very best friends in the Salt Lake Temple. We were so happy to be there with Kirk on his special day, and loved spending time with some other really great friends of ours.

Later in the evening we attended a wedding dinner for Kirk and Lindsey at the Market Street Grill. Colton was asked by Kirk to prepare a little speech.. and Kirk wrote and played a song on his guitar for his new wife. (He is such a sweetheart!)

I don't think there are too many other ways I'd rather spend my day then at a wedding. Colton and I are so happy for Kirk, and are so thankful we could take part in such a wonderful day.

Our Saturday in black and white

We started off our Saturday by going to our niece Daisy's baptism. She is so cute! We love her and are so happy for her.

And then we moved the party to Marriott/Slaterville to surprise our sister in law Jodi on her 30th birthday.. all in black and white. It was a success.. and we all had a fun night together.

I'm a little worn out of this blog at the moment. But you see.. this is my only means of journaling and keeping record of our life (and it's been such a great record thus far) so I don't really want to stop because I don't want to miss documenting anything (the thought of leaving something out gives me anxiety). But no matter if this blog lives on forever or not... I'd still be taking tons of pictures regardless. So then I might as well just keep on posting them.. right? (For the sake of your entertainment.. but mostly for me and Colton and our future family.)

It's a crisis-- so I might try and come up with some sort of system that might work better for now. We shall see...

All besides the fact that I am a little loony.. all is wonderful around here, and I hope the same for all of you! Have a lovely week!

Ringing in the new year!

We celebrated the bringing in of the new year with our friends the Shaws and the Reads. We ate the typical (and wonderful) new years eve treats, drank sparkling cider, played pictionary, smooched at mid night, and watched the ball drop in New York City with Ryan Seacrest.

We had a good time partying and celebrating a brand new year with our friends, and hope that we will all be around in 365 days to do it again. Happy new year, everybody!

January + After thirteen months - In January I finally got around to changing my name and officially became Emily Dawn Meyerhoffer + we moved to Clinton on New Years Day.

February + Colton's sister was married and we happily welcomed Ethan and Caleb into our family.

March + Teach me how to Jimmer + the boys went to Las Vegas for the Mountain West Basketball Tournament.

April + Colton talked me into opening my times capsule.

May + Colton turned 23 + Trevor and Jodi got married.

June + I turned 22 + I went on my favorite trip to St. George with my cousins + we rescued a baby kitten and named it Tiny.

July + I saw David Archuleta at Stadium Of Fire + Colton golfed a lot + we booked two flights to Ireland!

August + We took our first camping trip alone and decided we wanted to be a camping family + went to lots of demolition derby's + Baby Quinn was born!

September + Blake got married + we left for Ireland!!

October + We spent two weeks in Ireland visiting Colton's mission!

November + Had fun at BYU games + and opened our Christmas presents early.

December + We attended lots of Christmas parties + booked a cruise with our family + celebrated our second wedding anniversary + witnessed David Archuleta's big announcement + had a perfect Christmas.

2011 was an amazing year and will definitely be hard to top. We had three siblings get married, got a new baby niece, and were able to take the most incredible vacation together.

We received so many blessings and had so much fun over the past twelve months, all possible and because of our amazing families, good friends, and our Heavenly Father.

We hope you all had a great year and that this upcoming new year is even better. We're so excited for what's ahead!

i really can't put into words my feelings about last nights concert. i could try, but i get weirdly defensive and personal when it comes to david... so i don't really like to talk about it.

what i will say is, the concert was amazing. david is amazing. how he manages to take my breath away every single time... i do not know. but my love for him is real people.

and two years without him... i don't know how i'll get by (it literally gives me a stomach ach), but i'm supportive and i'm happy. i know he will be an awesome missionary! ♥

Last day with our primary class

Today was our last day teaching this cute primary class.

Although some weeks I thought I might go crazy, I really grew to love each one of them and their wild little personalities.

Two Years

This weekend Colton and I will celebrate our 2nd year of marriage together.

Now to be completely honest here,

I can't help but laugh out loud as I go through pictures from our wedding day,

and as I watch us interact on our wedding video.

We have come so far as a couple over the past two years,

and for that I am so thankful!

I love spending my life with Colton,

and as much as I loved my first year with him, this second year has by far outdone it.

I look forward to our third year, and every single year after that,

because with the way things have gone in the past... it'll only get better!

While Colton and Brent were serving their Missions, Candice and I started a tradition of taking my little brother Ryan to The Zoo Lights. Now that our boys are home-- the past couple of years they have joined us in our fun night of dinner at Hires and lights at The Hogle Zoo!

I look forward to continuing this tradition, and with hopes of lots of little kids in the future; I think it's one that will get even better with time. Thanks for the fun night you guys!

The Gift of The Magi Party

Second annual friends Thanksgiving

On Friday night Colton and I hosted our second annual friends Thanksgiving dinner. Each couple contributed to our meal, and every item looked and tasted wonderful.

I loved spending time with my friends and felt so happy and grateful for each one of them and the friendship we have all had over the years. It kind of makes me laugh when I think about how far everybody has come sense our days together at Clearfield High School. And thank goodness for that! We have all found the greatest guys for us, and two have even added the sweetest little boys to their families (and the rest of us made a little pact to have our own babies at our party next year).

I felt a little bit emotional falling asleep after everyone had left, thinking about how much I love all of my sweet friends and how happy I am for each of them. I hope we can all stay close and carry on this new tradition for a long, long time.

Colton loved serving in Cork and was so excited to show me around. We spent two days in Cork City, and spent two nights sharing a twin sized bed in our hotel room. I loved it! We had a really good time in Cork and were able to spend a little bit of time during General Conference with some people from Colton's mission, that I instantly fell in love with. saturday night i was finally able to attend my first byu game this season, with colton, blake, taylor, and my dad. we were prepared for a blizzard.. but it ended up being a pretty nice night.

as always, we had a fun night at the game.. and we're excited for next week! (it's weird to me that the season is already almost over, and that the byu-utah game is already long gone..)

Babysitting

while her parents and big brother went to the Syracuse football game in Salt Lake.

We love this little baby, and I think my favorite thing in the world right now is to watch

Today the Meyerhoffer family had to put down their long time family puppy, Grace.

Now to be honest Grace and I never developed much of a relationship, but my husband and his family are so sad tonight, so of course I am so sad for all of them.

I know you're going to be missed Gracie, but I know you're feeling much better where you are now.

Thanks for being such a good pet to Colton all these years..

I can't wait to see what kind of children we create together. :)

Londonderry-Derry + Omagh

I was nervous to go to Derry. There is a lot of controversy there that I don't know very much about (like weather you call it Derry or Londonderry or which flag you fly) but I didn't want to get involved. I took a few pictures from the safer side of the wall, and then got out of there as fast as I could.

Colton took me to the shop where he bought the ring he sent home to me while he was on his mission. I was was so so happy the day I received that package!

Missionary work is hard! I felt so bad for the poor guys. I'm always going to be grateful for the days Colton was a missionary, but I am so thankful that those days are over.

We stayed the night with a member named Tom Henry at his home in Omagh. He might just be the most kind and tender-hearted man in the whole world! While Colton was on his mission he sent pictures and told me all about Brother Henry, so I couldn't wait to finally meet him and have a cup of his famous hot chocolate. Tom loves the missionaries and has literally devoted his whole life to helping them and making sure they have all that they need, as well as a nice meal every sunday. They are so lucky and grateful to have him around!

It's so sad for me to think that this was only the beginning of our adventure. We still had so much fun ahead of us, and just like that it's all over..

I miss Ireland so much :(

I wonder if I'm ever going to get over it? (And I bet you're all wondering the same thing.)

Dublin

We spent our last two days in Ireland in Dublin. (Though this isn't the last of the posts/pictures- because I haven't been posting in any kind of order.) -- Colton never served in the Dublin area and isn't very familiar with the city, so we decided it would be most beneficial to go on a double decker bus tour where we could get on and off and see all the best sights that Dublin had to offer.

I still miss Ireland so much and think about it every single day. Hopefully one day (way sooner than later) we will be able to go back.

Until then I'll just have to keep dreaming..

Cowboys and Indians

On Saturday night my in-laws threw a costume party at the Marriott-Slaterville city hall. The decorations, food, deserts, and games were great; and everyones costumes were awesome! It was such a fun night, I think it will definitely become a yearly tradition.

Kissing the Blarney Stone

Last night my mother-in-law took my sister-in-laws and I to see Thriller at Kingsbury Hall. I would love to be able to dance and move around like those Zombies do, and I wouldn't mind dressing up like them every halloween for the rest of my life. (I'm tempted every year!)

We spent a couple of nights in Kilkenny with some of our very favorite people, the Moylans. Colton met the Moylan family while serving in Ireland, and they have sense come to Utah a couple of times to visit. We were so excited to see Ellana and Michael and had such a great time with them. Michael is getting ready to send in his mission papers, and Ellana is looking for any way to make a permanent move to Utah. I loved talking with them and hearing what life is like as a mormon in Ireland. They are so much stronger than I'm sure I would be able to be, and are such awesome examples to everyone around them.

Belfast

If I had to choose a place to live in Ireland, I would most likely pick Belfast City. It wasn't my favorite area of our vacation (if we're talking green fields and cottages), but it seemed the most livable for an American girl like me. There were tons of places to shop and lots of nice places to eat.

We spent our first two nights in Ireland with John and Alison Tracey (some members Colton spent a lot of time with on his mission) at their home in Belfast. They were far too good to us, and took such good care of us during our awful state of jett lag. We were lucky to be with such kind and understanding people during those first 48 hours!

For my birthday in June, Colton surprised me with two day passes to Lagoon.!! We decided that we wanted to save them for Frightmares when the weather cooled down a bit, plus the Cook's wanted to come; so we needed to wait until after Erin had her baby.

We went on Saturday afternoon/evening and had the greatest time!

If I was guaranteed that our kids would be as cute and as much fun as my sisters, I would start having children right this second and probably never stop.

We're so happy that Matt, Erin, and Ben got to come with us.

The Cliffs of Moher

I might say that every day was my favorite, but this was my favorite day of driving. We started out in a place called Omah where we were visiting a member the night before, and spent the whole day driving to our destination: The Cliffs of Moher.

I mentioned how much I was going to miss the long drives with Colton. He always kept me entertained, and on this particular day I'm not sure that it was safe for him to be behind the wheel. (Just kidding, it wasn't really that bad) but we were in the car all day long, and the roads in Ireland are nothing like the roads here in America. I felt like I was on a roller coaster!

We weren't positive that The Cliffs would still be open by the time we finally arrived, but were so thankful to pull up and find out that there wasn't a closing time.

The Cliffs of Moher according to their website:

The Cliffs of Moher are one of Ireland's top Visitor attractions and are a designated UNESCO Geo Park. The Cliffs are 214m high at the highest point and range for 8 kilometres over the Atlantic Ocean on the western seaboard of County Clare. O'Brien's Tower stands proudly on a headland of the majestic Cliffs. From the Cliffs one can see the Aran Islands, Galway Bay, as well as The Twelve Pins, the Maum Turk Mountains in Connemara and Loop Head to the South. The Cliffs of Moher take their name from a ruined promontory fort “Mothar” which was demolished during the Napoleonic wars to make room for a signal tower.

On our drive back down we made a stop at a small castle we passed on the way up. The Dunguaire Castle in Kinvara, County Galway.

We stopped for dinner at KFC before we checked into our Hotel for the night. We stayed at The Clayton in Galway. I hit my face pretty hard on the glass shower wall when I sat down to go to the bathroom, and Colton happened to be standing inside the shower and watched it happen. It was funny! We spent some time using the internet in the lobby.. and then returned to our room to get some sleep.

Now someone tell me why we haven't been able to sleep through the night sense we've been home, it has almost been a week! Our bodies wake us up (at 2, 3, 4, and 5) and then we can't go back to sleep.

HELP!

While planning our vacation to Ireland- my one and only request was that we keep a night open, and upon arrival; find the perfect bed and breakfast and stay the night.

Most every night of our trip was spent in a different town. This particular day we made our way to a place called Dingle (Dingle Bay) for the evening.

While making our way to Dingle we stopped in a little village to take some pictures. Colton recognized a woman across the street that we had met in the air port (in Chicago) a week earlier, and ran over to see how her trip was going. He told her where we were headed and she recommended that we stay in the Castlewood House, where she had spent the last two nights. So we thought we would check it out.

When we pulled up Colton went inside to check things out, came out to get my approval, and minutes later we booked a room for the night. We were so excited for the night ahead of us!

After we got settled in we headed out for dinner. The owner of the home suggested The Half Door; so off we went. After dinner we stopped in to Murphy's Pub for some live music, chips, and desert. It was a good time!

We went back to our room, took a shower, watched the movie Notting Hill, and enjoyed a wonderful night together. Though neither of us are breakfast people (during breakfast hours anyway), we were excited for our breakfast in the morning!

The food and service was excellent! Colton enjoyed his pancakes while I enjoyed my ham and cheese omelet; all while enjoying the beautiful view of Dingle bay outside the window.

We both agree that our night in Dingle was one of our favorites. If we ever get the opportunity to go back to Ireland we will definitely visit the Castlewood House again. Murphy's too!

This morning my sister and her husband blessed sweet baby Quinn.

It was such a great morning and afternoon spent with our close friends and

family, celebrating this perfect little babies new life. We love her!

I say it a lot, but I don't think that I could ever say it enough..

I love my family, and I'm so happy to know that families are forever!

Ireland 2011

The past 13 days were truly some of the very best, and by far the very most fun days of my entire life. I loved Ireland so much more than I ever thought I would.

I cried at the beginning of our journey driving to the air port because I was nervous, but cried much different tears walking off of the air plane late last night. If turning around and going back would have been an option, we both would have done it in a second!

I think it's pretty safe to say that we had a perfect vacation, and I don't ever want to forget the memories that we made together over the past two weeks. The best part was spending every single second of every day together.. and being sincerely so happy the whole time. That's really what I will miss the most!

I'm going to miss our long drives every afternoon to get to our next destination. I was so amazed at how much Colton remembered and how good he was about getting us around the whole country of Ireland (on the opposite side of the road none the less.) His memory is unbelievable!

I was worried about the rain and worried about what the food would be like. The weather was great for us, pretty sunny most of the time, and it only rained three of the days we were there. Everything I ate was just as great. I don't love fish, but the chips were amazing. I don't think we went a day without getting any. French fries will never be the same..

I was able to meet and spend time with some of the members of the church in Ireland. There aren't very many.. but they are the most amazing people. They literally dedicate their whole lives to living and sharing the gospel, and making sure that the missionaries are taken care of.

I loved getting to visit Colton's mission and see all of the places where he spent two years of his life. It was so much different than I imagined (back when I used to daydream about him walking the streets of Ireland.) I'm sort of surprised he made it out of some of those places alive. Ha!

We visited so many cool sights and lots of castles; and of course took tons of pictures. So look forward to a lot of Ireland around here for the next little while!

Now for adjusting back to real life- we aren't excited! But we realize that life must go on, and sense we don't have any other choice.. we're going for it! Thankfully it's such a fun time of year and we have a lot to do.. I'm coming around to thinking that we'll be just fine :)

We will forever be grateful for the opportunity we had to see Ireland together. I loved it with every little piece of my heart. Thanks so much for taking me Colton!

We landed in Ireland Sunday morning at 8:00 am. (1:00 am Utah time.)

Trying to function properly for the first 48 hours was honestly pretty rough,
but we woke up the next morning feeling great and have ever sense.

We truly are having the time of our lives,
and Colton is definitely in his element here.

I'm looking forward to sharing some of our experiences and
lots of pictures with all of you when we get back!

Blake and Taylor's wedding day

It finally happened! Blake Ross is a married man, and he couldn't be any happier! (And neither could the rest of us!) Yesterday was the big day, and every single thing about it was perfect. I love weddings, and I love my family more than anything else!

Though it was a long time coming.. I always knew that one day Blake would find me the perfect sister in law. I'm so so happy that Taylor got to join our family! And I'm so happy for Blake. It truly was such a blissful, and wonderful day. I hope they're having the best time on their honeymoon.

My heart is just so happy! I love my family.

Well friends, I will talk to you all in a couple of weeks! (I may give you a little update in a few days just so my parents know that I'm alive. Assuming and hoping I'll be alive. We're so excited!!)

Mormon Message

A few months ago I mentioned that a Mormon Message was being filmed at our city park.

It was pretty cool to see it go down, and the video turned out really neat.

** Plus my Dad's famous which might be my favorite thing about it.

So thankful to be a member of the church, for the amazing power of the priesthood,
and for the worthy priesthood holders all around me.

colton asked me to marry him 2 years ago today.

that's a little crazy!

(crazy in a way that it's been 2 years.. but also crazy that it's only been 2 years..)

dating, falling in love, and being engaged planning our new life together couldn't have been more fun,

but now looking back; none of those days even come close to the fun that we have together now.

i'm so grateful that he asked me to marry him that night

so that we could progress to where we are today.

i'm looking forward to our 2 year anniversary coming up!

i love you, colton!

Last night my mother in law took me, my sister in law Megan, and niece Daisy

to see Mary Poppins at the Capitol Theatre in Salt Lake City.

It was a great show, and we all had a lot of fun!

Blake's "Bachelor Party"

These four boys thought they needed one last hoorah before Blake says "I do" next week,

and driving 24 hours to Texas for the BYU game sounded awesome.

They left Thursday night and headed straight to a BYU fireside at a church in Austin on Friday night, went to the game on Saturday, and as soon as it was over; started their journey home.

(They rotated drivers every 2 hours for 24 hours. Each way.)

Last night Me and Whitley went to the Selena Gomez concert at the Maverik Center. Never ever am I ashamed of the concerts I (we) attend.. but I will admit that last night, amongst hundreds of eleven year old girls and their parents, I did feel a tiny bit out of place. But Selena rocked it.. and as we always do, we had an amazing time!

Sense my husband thinks I'm weird.. I'm happy to have a friend that loves these kind of things as much as I do.

I'm so extremely, terribly sad that because I will be out of town, I had to sale my Taylor Swift ticket.. :( But I can't wait for our next concert, what ever it may be. Any day now Davie..

Thanks again Whitley. What really would I do without you?!

labor day weekend in island park

we spent our weekend in island park at colton's aunt and uncles beautiful cabin.

on saturday afternoon we had lunch and watched the football game at a local bar in island park,
spent sunday morning playing on the lake, and went into west yellowstone for dinner.

i sometimes forget, or better yet don't even realize (pay attention to) how funny
colton really is. i think everyone would benefit from a few days with the boy..
he's really really fun to spend time with!

i loved my weekend with my dear husband and his family.
i hope all of your weekends were just as great.

Utah County Demolition Derby

Because we had so much fun last weekend; last night we went to the Utah County Fair in Spanish Fork to watch our friend Spencer drive in their Demolition Derby.

As much as I loved the Juab County Derby, I think I liked this one even better. Tickets have been sold out for weeks.. but Spencer is awesome and found us some Pit Passes! Which meant we got to wear special orange wrist bands, and were able to go back stage and witness all of the commotion in between each heat.

Spencer warned us that this would be a whole different show and he was right- the cars were crazy! And thought that made me really nervous, it so fun and exciting to watch.

Spencer did amazing! We cheered him on the whole time and were so proud of him. I think it's so cool that he and his brothers derby together, and now I can see why they are so passionate about it.

Their lifestyle is so much different than ours, but I realized last night that I'm kind of jealous of it.
So jealous that I'm considering doing the Powder-Puff with Kaitlin next year. :)
